UPDATE 4.4.2022: A public hearing regarding this proposal has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at 7:00 PM at the Township Municipal Offices in the Main Meeting Room. This public hearing is scheduled to take place during the regular Township Board Meeting.
Representatives from Six Rivers Land Conservancy attended the Chesterfield Township Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Their presentation outlined an opportunity for us to partner with Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Macomb County, and Six Rivers to preserve and protect 90 acres of natural land in here in Chesterfield Township. The parcel being discussed is Parcel No. 09-29-176-001, which is located east of I-94 and Hennings Street, also known as, “North Lagoons.”
Six Rivers Land Conservancy is helping to facilitate an already awarded Department of Defense grant via the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program that will pay up to $675,000.00 to Chesterfield Township for a conservation easement, held by Six Rivers Land Conservancy, on the 90-acre North Lagoons property.
Ultimately what this means is, Chesterfield Township would retain ownership and maintenance responsibilities of the property. We will also be able to develop to property with nature trails in the future if desired, however the conservation easement includes restrictions designed to help keep the property natural with limited usage in perpetuity.

All public input is requested and desired. Please reach out to the Supervisor’s Office by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
