Trustee Linda Hartman
The law does not delegate specific statutory duties and responsibilities
to township trustees. However, trustees play a vital role in township
government. As the name implies, a trustee is an individual placed in a
position of public trust with fiduciary responsibilities to manage the affairs
of the township in the best interests of the public. A trustee has the
responsibility to attend township board meetings and participate in
deliberations and decisions. To properly evaluate proposals and issues that come before the board, they must be knowledgeable in all aspects of
township government. Trustees are frequently given additional duties and
responsibilities by township board action. These additional duties may
include, but not be limited to:
Serving as a liaison to the Election Commission
Serving as a liaison to the Library Board
Serving as a liaison to the Parks & Recreation Commission
Serving as a liaison and voting member of the Planning Commission
Serving as a liaison and voting member of the Zoning Board of Appeals
Serving as a liaison to the Police and Fire Administration Board
Serving as a SEMCOG sub-committee member
As a liaison, a trustee shall be appointed by the Supervisor to a board or
commission and serve a one-year term. After which, the trustees shall rotate board.
