Building and Code Enforcement
Overview
The Chesterfield Township Building Department performs a variety of services for
the residents of Chesterfield Township. The main purpose of the Building
Department is to insure the health, safety and welfare of all citizens in
Chesterfield Township. The Building Department also oversees and inspects all
construction, alterations and building projects within the township. Other
functions are to review building plans, issue building permits, mechanical
permits, electrical permits and plumbing permits and conduct inspections on work
performed. Building permit fees are based on the value of the work being
done; electrical, plumbing and mechanical fees are listed on each application.
The Building Department is responsible to enforce the current codes adopted by
the State of Michigan. Copies of the codes are available through the office of
Management
Services of the State of Michigan Bureau of Construction Codes.
The Zoning Enforcement division enforces all Township Code of Ordinances for
compliance to ensure and protect the public health, safety and welfare. (click

The Building & Zoning Enforcement Department’s full time staff is here to serve
you Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm. The Inspectors are
available for any questions in the morning or afternoon.
