CALL TO ORDER: 7:10pm

APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to accept agenda by Natalie McPherson, seconded by Patrick Williams

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion to table old meeting minutes by Theldha Miller, seconded by Tracy Antrikin,

DIRECTOR’S REPORT:

Vincent Finazzo (Secretary) has officially resigned for the Parks & Recreation Commission

Participation is down slightly from 2007 due to economic hardship in the area.

NEW BUSINESS:

A) Review social media policy from the City of Novi with the commission board.

Consensus of commission board is to have similar policy in place for Chesterfield Twp. before any type of social

network web site can be created for Parks & Recreation.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

A) Halloween Jamboree - October 16 @ 11:00AM ----- Looking for volunteers to go and participate

B) Mom & Son Dance - November 7@ 3:00PM ----- Looking for volunteers to go and participate

Parks and Recreation conference in February in Traverse City Michigan ----- Commissioners attendance is encouraged, but any member attending will have to pay their own way.

COMMENTS FROM THE COMMISSION:

Patrick Williams is disappointed that Macomb is not going to finish it portion of a hiking trail

Theldha Miller cannot make the October meeting. She would like to explore setting up a foundation called "Friends of Chesterfield Parks & Recreation". This foundation would set up fundraiser to raise money that would be used to enhance facilities in Chesterfield.

Alan Christ welcomed everyone back from summer. He is disappointed that the State of Michigan has canceled literacy funding.

Richard Piekarski wants to start looking into the master plan for Chesterfield of Parks & Recreation one issue at a time. He recommends starting to review the Recreation Master Plan beginning in January 2011 on a monthly basis. The current plan expires in 2011.
