Proposed MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING

OF

THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CHESTERFIELD

November 1, 2010

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lovelock at 7:00 p.m. in the Charter Township of Chesterfield Municipal Offices at 47275 Sugarbush, Chesterfield, MI 48047.

Present: Supervisor Lovelock, Clerk Uglis, Treasurer Hartman

Trustees: Bell, DeMuynck, Ficht, Printz

Also Present: Deputy Clerk Wurmlinger, Township Attorney Seibert

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance by Lt. Colonel Lou Nigro, (Ret.) and other Veterans attending the meeting.

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Ficht to approve the: 4A) Agenda as submitted. 4B) Approve the minutes of the Study Session Meeting of October 13, 2010 and the Regular Board Meeting of October 18, 2010. 4C) Approve the Payment of Bills as submitted by the Finance Department. 4D) Approve the Supervisor’s Office recommendation to appoint Mr. Rick LaBelle to the Planning Commission with his term expiring June 1, 2012. 4E) Approve the Supervisor’s Office recommendations to appoint Ms. Wendy Jones to the Zoning Board of Appeals with her term expiring September 1, 2013. 4F) Approve Township Attorney’s recommendation to accept the settlement payment of $1,000.00 from Vito Anthony Homes and Building Co. for the cutting of noxious weeds on 19 lots and forgive the tax lien balance of $3,316.00.

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Printz to approve the introduction and first publication of Zoning Amendment No.110-97 Section 76-98 Medical Marijuana Uses.

Motion by Uglis, seconded by Ficht to approve the introduction and first publication of Ordinance Amendment No.129-03 regarding specific regulations for Pylon Signs.

Nays: None MOTION CARRIED

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Ficht to approve the Parks and Recreation Department’s request to award the Batting Cage construction project to Tom’s Fence Company who submitted the lowest quote of $12,986.00.

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Lovelock to adopt Resolution 2010-19 committing a portion of Township property for the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Memorial. Clerk Uglis read the resolution into the record.

WHEREAS, the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Memorial Committee and the Charter Township of Chesterfield, Michigan are pleased to announce the dedication of the future site of the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Memorial.

WHEREAS, On November 6th 2010, the ceremony will take place at the Chesterfield Township Municipal Offices at 47275 Sugarbush Road, Chesterfield, Michigan at twelve o’clock noon.

WHEREAS, the I-24 Memorial is being built to honor the lives and service of the 22 Marines who lost their lives in combat during the unit’s 2006-2007 deployment to Iraq.

WHEREAS, the memorial committee was formed shortly after the battalion’s return and has been working for over three years to make this memorial a reality.

WHEREAS, with the support of the citizens, numerous veteran’s organizations, and a dedicated core of volunteers, the committee has been able to raise over $60,000. The Architect’s Renderings were recently updated to take advantage of the native plantings along the Senior Pathway.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Charter Township of Chesterfield Board of Trustees adopt a Resolution for the Marine Memorial Committee and the Charter Township of Chesterfield to work together to complete the design for the future site of the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Memorial.
