Proposed MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING

OF

THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CHESTERFIELD

August 17, 2009

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lovelock at 7:00 p.m. in the Charter Township of Chesterfield Municipal Offices at 47275 Sugarbush, Chesterfield, MI 48047.

Present: Supervisor Lovelock, Clerk Uglis, Treasurer Hartman

Trustees: Bell, DeMuynck, Ficht, Printz

Also Present: Deputy Clerk Wurmlinger, Township Attorney Seibert

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Ficht to approve the: 4A) Agenda as submitted. 4B) Approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of August 3, 2009. 4C) Approve the Payment of Bills as submitted by the Finance Department. 4D) Approve Code Enforcement’s request to have the Township Attorney seek in Circuit Court authorization to demolish an uninhabited house at 29579 23 Mile Rd., Chesterfield, MI 48047. 4E) Approve Treasurer’s Office request to renew the annual service and support contract for the Equalizer Cash Receipting Program at a cost of $1,295.00 effective August 1, 2009 to August 1, 2010. 4F) Approve Clerk’s Office request authorizing the Township Clerk to seek permission from the Michigan Department of Transportation to have two banners placed over Gratiot Ave. advertising the 2009 Gratiot Cruise.

Motion by Uglis, seconded by Hartman to approve the Police Department’s request to tender a conditional offer of employment to an applicant as a Police and Fire Emergency Dispatcher.

Motion by Uglis, seconded by DeMuynck to approve the Police Department’s request to purchase seven Panasonic screen and keyboard units from Portable Computer Systems to be installed in patrol vehicles at a cost of $12,632.85.

Ayes: All

Nays: None MOTION CARRIED

 

 

Motion by Hartman, seconded by Uglis to approve a request from Macomb District Boy Scouts of America to conduct an overnight campout at Brandenburg Park from 6 p.m. Friday, September 25 to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009.

Ayes: All

Nays: None MOTION CARRIED

 

 

 

 

Motion by Ficht, seconded by Printz to approve a request from Kinetic to host a concert from 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at The Well, 46000 N. Gratiot, Chesterfield, MI 48051. The concert will include bands, inflatables and a bonfire.

Ayes: All

Nays: None MOTION CARRIED

 

 

 

Supervisor Lovelock requested that Public Comments be moved ahead of the Closed Session portion of the Agenda.

No one addressed the Board during Public Comments.

 

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Ficht to enter into closed session pursuant to Section 8(e) of the Open Meeting Act to consult with the Township Attorney regarding a case evaluation award, Charter Township of Chesterfield v Steven Bankhead et al.

Nays: None MOTION CARRIED

Entered Closed Session at 7:18 P.M.

Motion by DeMuynck, seconded by Ficht to return to Open Session at 7:31 P.M.

Motion by Uglis, seconded by Ficht to accept the Township Attorney’s recommendation as discussed in closed session.
