Construction on the Salt River Bridge is currently in the GI
Plan phase of development; with work to begin March 2019 with completion anticipated the beginning of August. During this time, Jefferson
will be closed in this area and alternate ways around will be advised.
The design plans approved by MDOT illustrate the overall underclearance of the proposed structure is higher than the existing; in Span 1, the increase is between 6” and 10 1/2”.
Aesthetically speaking, the abutments and pier will have the
simulated stone veneer, decorative bridge lighting, galvanized black painted
3-tube rail with pickets, and the remaining exposed concrete surfaces painted
